Local Councillor Ishbel Brown recently attended a meeting with Post Office officials where it was announced that Kennington Post Office may be under threat.
The meeting was addressed by Simon Burman, an External Stakeholder Manager at the Post Office who said there are currently plans to merge Walworth Post Office with Kennington Post Office. This would leave the nearest Crown Post Office to local residents in Walworth.
The Post Office are currently “sounding out” the community before launching a formal consultation down the line. If we want to keep this vital community resource it is important that we let the Post Office know how people feel about the plans.
The LibDems have been out canvassing to collect signatures opposing the closure of Kennington Post Office.
