Engagement Officer Post – Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre are looking for an Engagement OfficerBackground: The Community Centre has its 30th year anniversary in 2017. Originally located in a bedding factory, the disused building was occupied by local activists and the Council was coaxed into buying it as a community centre. The building was sold on terms favourable to the Community Centre and the landlord is now CLS Holdings, a locally based developer. Over the years the Centre has been the site for a multitude of activities and in the late 1980′s it was even the focus for a weekly live Channel 4 arts and culture program called ClubX. It now provides 7 artist studio spaces, an office space and large hall and cafe for activities to the local community local authority and other voluntary organisations to meet. It is governed by a Board of up to 9 Trustees (known as its Management Committee), drawn from the local area for their experience in the local community and further afield for their expertise.
Trustees are involved on a regular basis in the affairs of the Centre, not only through formal meetings, but are available to the staff for advice and discussion between meetings. The Engagement Officer will report to the Centre Manager VGCC.
