Proposal to form a staff/residents’ mutual to take over the 10 Lambeth libraries

From Christina Burnett

“Although numbers of library users have fallen in the last seven years roughly in line with cuts to expenditure, more people still visit libraries annually than attend either football matches or the cinema: libraries are still one of the main cultural activities in which people take part.”Please click here https://vivavauxhall.files.wordpress.com/2016/02/staff-and-community-mutual-report-final-4.doc to download the proposal to form a staff/residents’ mutual to take over the 10  libraries – as York and Suffolk etc have done – so that they can all stay open, run by professionals and supported by their communities, instead of being turned into GLL gyms!

There is also a summary on the Defend the Ten website see link below

Would be great if you could write to Lib Peck, Sean Harriss (chief exec), Kate Hoey, Jane Edbrooke and your local councillors to express strong support.  This is now the only way to save all our libraries from the Culture 2020 madness!
