New Vauxhall Gyratory consultation launched

Disappointingly, despite Our Vauxhall’s best efforts, the community proposal for the transformation of the gyratory has not been included in this latest consultation exercise either. Please complete it, and be sure to mention that you would urge TfL to consider the Our Vauxhall proposal as well, and not just the TfL/Lambeth  proposal.

Please see below Pauline and Helen’s thoughts (on behalf of Our Vauxhall):

IF YOU PAINT A ROAD RED ON THE MAP IT DOESN’T MAKE IT INTO A BUS STATION

https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/vauxhall-cross

This is the link to TfL’s new consultation. You will see that the bus station no longer exists; it has been swallowed up under a vast new spread of multi storey commercial development stretching across the island site from Bondway, with bus stops proposed roadside along Bondway and Wandsworth Road, no longer in a safe, contained, dedicated bus station.

Shut your eyes and visualise how far it is from the tube to the other side of the island site opposite Tesco, then look at the bus stop map and see how much further, as well as unsafe and unpleasant are the stops on Wandsworth Road.

And all this is contained within a toxic two-way gyratory.

Our Vauxhall would give us pedestrian and cycle friendly access to the centre and allow the bus station to remain. TfL insist the plans won’t work but refuse to test them to prove that they are right.

TfL are offering only twelve hours to view these plans (see below), all before Christmas at the busiest time.

Tell TfL that this consultation should be extended by at least a month to mid-February, and extra drop-in sessions must be scheduled after the New Year holiday. Please come to the KOV meeting this Wednesday.
