Visioning Vauxhall Cross Community Workshop Invitation –

Thursday 25 June 6.30pm, Carmelita Centre

From Barry Norris – Love Vaux Team

Vauxhall is changing, with many new buildings, the underground station upgrade, and a new underground station next to a new Sainsbury’s store all on the horizon. Within all this change it is Lambeth’s ambition to create a greener, safer and more accessible town centre with a transformed public transport interchange at its heart.

This ambition is set out in the Vauxhall SPD, which can be viewed here http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/vauxhall-spd#vauxhall-supplementary-planning-document-(spd)-

In January 2015, TfL’s first public consultation reported broad support for a scheme that would:

  • Return the streets to two-way working
  • Maintain and improve the rail, tube and bus interchange including changes to the current bus station
  • Provide new and improved public spaces in and around the transport interchange.

The full detail of this consultation can be viewed here: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/vauxhall-cross/. TfL will hold a second public consultation on the detail of the scheme at the end of the year.

Before then we want to better understand your views and ideas on what the future of the transport interchange and wider town centre should look and feel like. This will feed into, and help shape, TfL’s design of the new interchange and bus station.
