Artists in Residence – Sean Dower, Heidi Kilpeläinen and Simon Clark until 28th MarchNew Year 2015 kicked off with a series of short residencies up until Easter. All resident artists are those who use time as a key medium in their work – they perform. Sean Dower’s sound experiments in the Arch space (It is hard finding places you can make a noise uninhibitedly or set up and leave instruments) fell into two phases, culminating in two refined and visually diverse sound installations.
Current residents have diverse backgrounds in the music industry and academia – linked by an interest in experimental musicianship. Heidi Kilpeläinen occupies a reflective space within an ever-changing installation in the Upper space while Simon Clark will be devising a range of performative workshops for the Arch space. Open to the public Wednesday – Saturday, 11am – 5pm.
Simon Clark and Heidi Kilpeläinen on 27th March
6pm – 8pm, all welcome. Open late as part of South London Art Map #SLAMFRIDAYS
In a special SLAM Friday event, artist/writer/musician Simon Clark hopes to use the unique Arch space to trigger moments of pedagogical weirdness that speak to the micropolitical tensions embedded within contemporary art education. Following a stellar performance at last month’s SLAM Friday, Heidi Kilpeläinen will host a more intimate engagement with the work she has developed during her residency drawing from current affairs.
Address: 22 Newport Street, Vauxhall, SE11 6AY
