Ice rink on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens …

… over the Christmas periodVauxhall One has submitted for the temporary use of the MUGA (multi-use games area) site and part of the Pleasure Gardens for an ice rink and winter market over the Christmas period. Further to last week’s newsletter, there have been a number of responses, some in favour, with others raising concerns. In response to the concerns, Cllr Joanne Simpson attended a briefing session with Vauxhall One and community members and has asked for the following assurances via the planning process:

– Whether any other areas of the park were considered
– What benefit/damage assessment has been made
– If the MUGA site is used, that a) alternative sports provision is available and accessible, and b) that the MUGA is returned ‘as it was found’, to be verified by the community
– Noise and ASB concerns are properly considered and mitigation measures agreed
– Parking spaces for local residents will not be impacted
– That pricing will reflect local need and that discounted/free tickets will be offered in some form to the local community
