Three weeks ago the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority voted unanimously to terminate their contract with Native Land. This was on a motion proposed by Cllr Peter Truesdale (Lib Dem) and seconded by Val Shawcross AM (Labour).
This was a huge victory for the local community. We fought for almost three years to get here against the local council, and one of the most powerful property developers in London. Many members of the community were in the public gallery to see the decision for themselves.
Our victory was a victory for decency and democracy over ravenous greed. LFEPA will now seek another developer, and hopefully we can see a development come forward which benefits our local area.
Thank you to everyone for your support. The petition really made a difference and showed the power of people get the right thing done.
